The administrative building of Correctional Labour Camp VS 389/36 – Headquarters

The headquarters building which you see now was built in 1979, nine years before the camp was closed down, but the facility was originally made of wood. On the ground floor there were checkpoints for people and vehicles, a guardroom, and meeting rooms.
The camp staff, the prisoners, and visiting relatives all had to pass through the checkpoints.
The first floor consisted entirely of administrative offices, while the second floor housed an observation point, where information from all of the camp’s security and alarm systems was collected.
